I know what a stay-at-home dad is from living in Moscow, but what is a community agitator? I suppose they're the sort of people who campaign to keep Wal-Mart away.
Author aside, it's a good article. Battery operated toys are the curse of parents everywhere. Boxes, sticks, cardboard tubes, and dirt are favorites at the Bakken house. Our children also enjoy grown-up shoes, blankets, and couch cushions.
I'd probably put bubble wrap just ahead of dirt, but otherwise a good list.
